WHAT IS POLYCARBONATE (PC)?
Polycarbonate is one of many thermoplastic polymers produced, it is obtained starting from carbonic acid. This material belongs to macro-category of polyester resins, family in which can find also the Bisphenol A.

Early studies about PC have been carried out in 1928 from E. I. Carothers, a Dupont member, but its exploit for commercial purpose start in 1960, when the Bayer company decided to produce it. Nowadays, instead, it has used in many fields, as military sector, accident prevention, building, transport, etc. Among the features of polycarbonate, we can indicate the resistance to minerals acids, hydrocarbons, gas-oils, fats, oils, alcohol (except methyl) and water, Only if they have a temperature lower than 70° C.
