Recycling of textile waste

Recycling of textile waste

Pistoni S.r.l. is a company in the province of Mantua that has been dealing with the recycling of textile waste for over 30 years. The textile district of Castel Goffredo is among the best known and appreciated for the quality of its products: thanks to the company's processes and technologies, and to an expert staff, even the textile waste produced by the various companies and laboratories can be collected and reused to produce excellent Secondary Raw Material (MPS). This solution is now increasingly requested and necessary, because it contributes to making the life cycle of fabrics more sustainable and circular.

The recycling of textile waste by Pistoni

How does the textile waste recycling business work? The main stages are:

  • recovery of textile material from local companies, laboratories and hosiery factories
  • cleaning of the material and subdivision of the same according to the type
  • packaging of textile waste with hydraulic press
  • at this point the bales of waste thus obtained (MPS) are stored in the warehouse ready for sale.

The textile waste that the company collects and recycles can generally be of two kinds: it can be natural fibers such as cotton, wool or viscose, or synthetic fibers, such as acrylic, polyester, nylon or l elastomer.

Natural textile fibers have a structural strength that allows them to join and form, through spinning, thin, strong but flexible threads that are used in the textile industry for the manufacture of yarns, which, in turn, are transformed into fabrics. Synthetic textile fibers, on the other hand, being produced by man and not existing in nature, can be produced in threads of various strength and composition.

The recycling of textile waste also takes place against the stock of yarns on spools of various kinds (nylon polyamide, polyester, cotton, etc ...). Within Pistoni S.r.l. a competent staff is specifically dedicated to manual cutting of yarns, to ensure a timely, efficient and sustainable recycling operation. Thanks to the recycling of textile waste, it is possible to give new life to material coming from companies or laboratories that would otherwise have been wasted. In this way we can produce excellent secondary raw material for industrial use and helping to reduce the environmental impact and waste of textile processing.
